The Top Ten Bad Foods

7. Hotdogs

Yet another huge seller and another heavy hitter when it comes to destroying your fat burning diet. Heavily processed hot dogs are made of all the meat they can’t get into other products – meat byproducts, as they are called. You don’t’ really want to know the origin, believe me. Fat, sodium and fillers are the primary ingredients – that and preservatives. Ever notice how a hot dog will not go bad no matter how long it’s left out? One hot dog has 16 grams of fat with 7 of them saturated. Low fat varieties exist, but you’d be much better off getting your protein from a more natural source like a nice lean steak.

8. Sugar Packed Cereals

Many cereals are loaded with refined sugar – up to 50% sugar, in fact. Eating your morning cereal means you jump start your day with a huge injection of sugar right in the love handles. Although many low fat, low sugar cereals exist, most boxed varieties are made to taste good first and be healthy second. Don’t believe it? Check the label. Be aware that “health food” cereals and granola - although without refined sugar – may still have plenty of natural sugars and be very high in calories. One good commercial alternative is Shredded Wheat – made from 100% whole wheat and therefore a complex carbohydrate which digests slower and burns more calories. Even better: Whole oats – not the flavored and sweetened packages – is considered by many body builders to be the perfect food due to its excellent mix of protein, complex carbohydrates and fats.

9. Cake

Now you’re really going to cry – that’s right, when it comes to fat burning, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Not unless you plan on buying a new wardrobe every year – one that can handle that extra girth. Cake is sugar, refined white flour, butter, eggs and more sugar and lard in the from of icing. Why to you think it tastes so good? In fact, all pastries should be considered a no-no to for your fat burning program - simply too many calories and little decent food value. For dessert, try fresh fruit instead – natural, full of vitamins and low in calories.

10. White Bread

White bread is so heavily processed it’s a wonder – no pun intended – that it can be called a food at all. Even thought it’s made of flour, white flour has been processed to the point were your body treats it as a simple sugar. It loses so much of its food value that manufactures are forced to re-introduce vitamins to “enrich” their product. Since the average person eats around 50lbs of bread per year, it’s no wonder fatness is no longer just a fad. Do yourself a big favor and avoid any products that are mostly white flour – look for 100% whole wheat instead.

Are there more? Sure, this list could include literally thousands of individual dishes – but you get the general idea.

Can you ever eat any of these foods and still not turn into a blimp? Of course, just remember to do so as little as possible – once a month at most. Ahh, and don’t forget to do the extra hour of hard aerobic exercise needed to burn off the added calories – that should make you think twice.

Our bodies have adapted over millions of years to seek out and consume items with high calorie content because being a little overweight back then could save you from starvation during the lean times. Now, there are no lean times for most of the industrialized world resulting in an explosion of obesity.

The food industry also knows people will buy what tastes good – foods filled with fat, sugar and salt. These are the flavorings that sell. So be aware and check the label – you’ll be dismayed to find all too many of your favorite foods are simply fat cluster bombs.

There is no substitute for a good, solid healthy diet when in comes to fat burning. Nothing else will do, so look for natural, whole foods and stay away from the highly processed ones – your body will thank you.
