Lemon, Maple Syrup, Cayenne Pepper Detox Diet - Exposed!

Cliff Baker

It sounds like the most unlikely trio since . . . well, I'm not sure what. You take the juice of a fresh squeezed lemon, Grade B organic maple syrup and add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir it all together and drink it down -- if you dare.

What do you have? No, not a recipe to cure that hangover (go ahead and try it, though, who knows?). You have the latest celebrity detox formula.

Drink this concoction for 10 days straight. Eat nothing else, drink nothing else but water. And "they" say that you'll cleanse your system of all toxins. "They" also say that you can drink all of this mix that you like -- and don't worry about the fact that you're not eating. According to "they" the lemon mixture contains all the vitamins and minerals you need.

The goal of this detox regimen -- like any other -- is to cleanse your system. During this 10-day period your system will naturally begin to flush the deeply embedded toxins out of your system. Not only will you lose weight, the proponents of this plan claim (the infamous "they" I've been referring to!), but you'll be far healthier as well.

And that means you can start anew with a healthy eating lifestyle. But wait! Before you can do that, you have to actually prepare your system to return to healthy food. (No, I'm not making this up!)

And how do you do this? By following the plan's "re-introduction" of food. The re-introduction of food starts with simply drinking orange juice mixed with water. During the second day you can drink orange juice and then you can add a vegetable broth to your eating habits.

Eventually, you'll be eating fruits and vegetables again. And if you're good, you won't eventually eat everything in sight.

Such celebrities as the pop icon Beyonce have gone on this detox regimen. Not only have they cleansed their systems, so "they" claim, they've lost plenty of weight during this time as well -- as much as 20 pounds in some cases.

Are you ready to go on this? Does it even appeal to you? I'm hoping not. Whenever any diet or health plan asks you to eat only one type of food for any length of time, you really have to question its health merits.

And this one seems exceedingly questionable. The lemon juice, though an acid food, has the benefits of alkalizing your system. The cayenne pepper contains vitamin C and has the potential to speed your metabolism. But then "they" go in and throw pure, organic grade B maple syrup into that mixer.

Oh yes, Beyonce did lose nearly 20 pounds in 10 days while on this detox plan. But you know what happened when she came off of it? By her own admission she ate just about everything in site. And she gained 12 pounds of your 20 back -- right away! Of course,

While this detox plan may indeed have certain legitimacy to it. But, you once again have to beware of any plan that makes you follow rules and regulations of eating and drinking. And you have to be doubly worried about any plan that withholds vital nutrients from your system -- energy-giving, life-sustaining, health-providing nutrients. Like this plan.

Seems to me you'd be far better off with that broccoli, the apple, and the tennis shoes! Eat healthy, exercise often! It really doesn't get much better than that if you're trying to burn that fat and lose some weight.
