Fat Loss Barriers pt4:
The Gastrointestinal System
Cliff Baker
Imagine if you could change just one thing and lift that fat-burning barrier that's been severely blocking your ability
to lose weight? Think it's an impossible wish? Does the term gastrointestinal system mean anything to you?
Wait! Don't click away yet! I'm being serious. If your gastrointestinal system -- okay, let's put it in a term we can
all understand, your gut! -- isn't working properly "ain't nothin' gonna be workin'" properly in your system. And that
includes your ability to lose the weight. In fact, if you're truly serious about losing weight, eminent natural health
practitioner Bryan Walsh advises to "start treating your gut with special care."
A gut out of control as it were can literally ruin your chances of losing weight. Why? Perhaps you just never realized
how many of our seemingly unrelated health problems actually begin in the gastrointestinal tract. A compromised immune
system can begin here, so can imbalances and problems with stress-related hormones. Got problems related to your sex hormones?
Bet you didn't think they could be related to, of all things, your gut. And yes, one of the most common barriers to weight loss
around today -- blood sugar irregularities -- begin in your gut as well.
So if it's so critical, you ask, how can I tell when it's not working properly? I've been living with this gut for years.
It's possible it has been out of whack for a while. Indeed, the odds are high that you've been struggling with a
malfunctioning system for a while and not even know it.
Tell me, do you experience any of the following problems:
- Gas
- Burping following meals
- Burning sensation in the stomach
- Constipation
- Inadequate digestion (Does it feel as if you have a brick in your stomach following meals?)
- Undigested food in your stools
- Foul-smelling stools
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Bad Breath
- Nausea
Well, who among us haven't experience one of these every now and then. These are symptoms easily dismissed?
But if that weren't enough, consider these other symptoms that you wouldn't immediately associate with your gastrointestinal
system that could be signaling a problem down there:
- Migraine headaches
- Allergies
- Eczema
- Autoimmune Diseases
None of these seems even remotely related to how your body is processing your food. Yet, they can be indicative of an
underlying problem with your gut.
Still not convinced? Well look at the facts compiled here. Nearly 75 percent of your body's immune system consists of
your gastrointestinal system. You are carrying more neurons in your small intestine, than is found in your entire spinal cord.
Not only that, but the gastrointestinal system is the only system in your body with its very own independently operating
nervous system. It's called the enteric nervous system.
It covers a lot of space
But if that isn't impressive enough, imagine if your gastrointestinal system were stretched out in its entirety, simply
unfolded and the entire surface area revealed. Did you realize that it would be as large as a regulation-sized singles
tennis court?
And finally, at the risk of grossing you out, there are more than 400 species of microbes in your gut, taking over 15
pounds of mass and containing more bacteria than there are known stars in the sky.
If you think that perhaps some of your weight loss issues might be from poor gastrointestinal health, discover how to
take the next step of determining allergic to. Here's just a small list of some of the most common foods that cause problems.
- Dairy products
- Corn
- Soy
- Wheat/gluten-containing foods
- Citrus
- Nightshade vegetables (tomatoes, onion, eggplant)
- Pork
- Eggs
While this may sound like a difficult undertaking, imagine how uplifting and tremendously energizing this process could
be -- to be truly free from some of the health problems that have bothered you for years! And in the process be free to
lose all the weight you care to?
