Fat Loss Barriers: It might be a lack of oxygen to your cells!
Cliff Baker
Losing weight and burning fat appeared to be much easier a generation ago. Sure, burning fat was simply a matter of ensuring your "calories in" didn't
total more than your "calories out." That means as long as you exercised off the calories you ate, you were doing well. At least that's what they told us.
Flash forward to 2009. Burning fat isn't as simple as it used to be. It's a complicated process these days. It seems as if our bodies are responding
to the new, more complicated knowledge about our bodies. In the past forty years, we've learned quite a bit too, I must admit.
Now, thanks to our ever-evolving knowledge, fitness experts have identified several major physiological roadblocks to burning fat. In this article,
we discuss one: your oxygen delivery system.
For most people, this may not be a problem. But if you're frustrated in your attempts, consider whether it just might be a "snag" (and that's the
technical term) with your oxygen delivery system.
See your cells run
Every cell of your body needs to have things in order keep your body running smoothly and they're rather real simple: oxygen and glucose. If either
of these is lacking, then the 10 trillion cells in your body will not work correctly. Guaranteed.
Oxygen is a vital component of a substance called ATP -- or adenosine triphosphate. And while you may not have heard of ATP, rest assured it is the
main energy source for your body. This one substance is absolutely essential to keeping your body moving.
Take ATP out of the equation, and nothing seems to work the way it should. And, it should not surprise you to discover therefore, that one of the
hallmarks of the aging process is a decreased production of the aging process.
We could name many nutrients that aid in boosting ATP production, but you need to know the most important component of keeping ATP pumping through
your body at the healthy, energetic levels is oxygen.
Without the proper amount of oxygen, nothing at all seems to work well -- including (dare I say) weight loss. The medical community calls a decrease
in the ability to deliver oxygen to your cells anemia. This is a condition which refers to either the quality or the quantity of red blood cells to
carry that oxygen around to all those 10 trillion cells.
And without the proper energy, you'll notice it not only in your energy levels but in your overall health as well. If the oxygen isn't getting to
the tiny capillaries of your body, your eyes aren't receiving the benefits of oxygen, your toes and fingers aren't getting the oxygen they need . . .
Well you get the idea. And you may feel this lack of oxygen in a lack of energy and a reduced ability to lose weight. And that's just one of the
barriers that could be restricting your ability to lose body fat and weight.
