Beware The Four Major Fat Burning MythsYou probably hear a hundred different little 'facts' about fat burning each day, spouted by gurus in the press, friends from work who have 'been there', and various online sources who want you to believe what they're telling you. The problem is, most of these sources that you're getting your information from don't know what they're talking about. A lot of these are myths that have been passed down from one person to another, and none of these people have ever looked closer. We're going to "bust" down the top fat burning myths of our time, so you know when you're getting real, solid information, and when someone is just pushing another myth. 1: Eating Late Will Make You Gain More WeightCalories are calories, which are calories. If you eat them at midnight or noon, you're still consuming calories which are putting on weight. Calories that you eat at night are no harder, nor easier, to shed then calories put on during the day. However, many of us use the late night to indulge in our worst cravings. Ice cream. Chocolate. Potato chips. Choose your poison – you've probably snuck some in the middle of the night as comfort food before drifting off to sleep. As long as you're eating healthily, you can have a midnight snack. Grab an apple or an orange, and you'll find it won't spend quite so much time on your hips. 2: Cellulite is the Hardest Form of Fat to BurnWrong, wrong, and once again may I say – wrong! This myth probably started because cellulite is fat and fluids that are closer to the surface of the skin, and while many men and women want this to go away as soon as possible, it can be a while before it disappears. Burning fat here is no harder to burn then anywhere else on your body. I'd also like to note that we're not saying some surface treatments available won't help reduce the look of cellulite on your skin. They can – but burning the fat will help the most. 3: My Genetics Makes it Impossible for Me to Burn FatThis is so silly, I don't even know where it came from. Your genetics do have some effect on your ability to burn fat, it's not going to make it impossible to do – diet and exercise play the largest factors in this game. What you can control makes a much larger impact then what you can't. That being said, it doesn't mean you're going to be able to ever fit into that size 0 you covet on a model. Work with what's healthy in your genetic range, and you'll be set. And, finally, the biggest fat burning myth of all... 4: Weight Training Will Give Me Huge Muscles that I Don't WantThis is stupid, and more of an excuse someone will tell you to avoid weight training than anything at all. What bodybuilders do isn't weight training, it's called weight resistance training. They work hours a day doing numerous repetitions, and that is how they develop their bulky muscles. What weight training will do is help you burn fat and tone your muscles so you look slim, lightly trim, and a lot more fit overall. The body that most men and women are searching for comes from a good balance of exercise methods that includes weight training!
