Fat Burner Marketing MalarkeyYou’ve seen it a million times: that one product that’s somehow going to stand conventional wisdom on its head and make you slim with little or no work on your part. Deep down, you know its all BS, but somehow their claims seem hard to refute. This article was written to give you the ammunition you need to send these bogus products down in flames. Let’s start with all the abdominal machines out there – you know, the ones that promise a washboard stomach in just seven minutes a day? What you’ll actually end up with is a washing machine belly and washboard wallet – one that shows all the cents you have. But look at those models with the super fine abs - didn’t they get that way using the machine? Come on – they have the genetics and/or work really hard to get that way – don’t kid yourself. Why can’t these machines give you a six-pack? Because you could do a zillion abdominal exercises and still look fat. Twists, crunches, leg raises, sit-ups and what have you – you might get a strong stomach, but you’ll never see your abs. Why? Because a flat stomach is the result of two things: A lucky break in the genetics department and/or a very low percentage of body fat. About 15% or less, in fact. If you are one of these naturally thin persons, you’re probably not reading this article. If you aren’t, you know it. Want a flat, sexy stomach? Get a fat burning program and work it hard – it’s the only way. Then there’s the “fat suits” or sauna suits. The idea is you cook the fat off. Great idea, unfortunately, fat melts at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, so you’re gonna have to do a lot better than a sauna suit to get it to work. Try an oven: how do you like yourself – medium or well done? These suits have shown that you can lose weight from sweating. Bad news, sweat is not fat, it’s water – check it out some time, it’s true. This water loss will make you lighter – up until you drink some water in which case you will gain it right back. Fat burning can involve sweating, but the fat comes off from vigorous exercise – the sweat is just a byproduct. Similar, and with the same thing in mind, are the neoprene exercise girdles. These babies promise to help you slim down but do nothing except squeeze the fat. Squeeze it all you want, it ain’t going away like that. The only thing that burns fat is vigorous exercise and lowered caloric intake – anything that makes it easier is just reducing the amount of calories you burn and wasting your time. Take a look at this video from Body Performance TV: Raising your metabolism and or your body temperature - thermogenics - just doesn’t work. If it did, people wouldn’t waste time at the gym. Many start their program to burn fat in the local super market buying slim looking foods – “lite” everything and products with athletic-looking young folks on the wrapper. Unfortunately, these foods often have very little caloric difference than regular foods and so do little to burn fat. Start reading labels and counting calories. You should also note that no food will make you thinner. Indeed, no food CAN make you thinner. Its how many calories you eat minus how many you burn that determine your fat content. |
