The Dirty Little Secret of Fat Loss:
The Truth No One Talks About

Susan Rodriguez

Many of us have been there. Perhaps you’re at that point in your weight loss program now. You’ve been gliding along, losing weight nicely when – BAM! – you hit the brick wall of resistance. And regardless of your actions, you can’t seem to budge those final pounds.

What's wrong? You keep asking yourself this question over and over. You're following your weight-loss program as you were doing before when the pounds seemingly melted off. Not only that, you were thrilled with the amount of muscle you built in the process.

Now it appears you can nothing right. Perhaps you only have 10 pounds to go before you reach your ideal weight. Maybe less. But you can't seem to get there from here, as the cliché goes. Is there something wrong with you?

No, there's nothing at all wrong with you. Unfortunately, this is a common problem -- and one no one likes to talk about! Actually, there's really a good explanation why this occurs. And you certainly deserve to hear it.

The more weight you carry, The easier the weight falls off

That's Rule Number 1! Don't get me wrong. It's not easy to lose weight, any amount of weight. And as Christian Finn, renowned certified personal trainer points out, "going from 'overweight' to 'average' is going to require willpower and hard work." But people who are overweight -- or even obese -- find the fat drops off faster on them than on the person who is trying to lose ten, even fifteen pounds to fit into that new swimsuit.

The overweight person may be able to drop anywhere from two to five pounds a week and it's considered a healthy loss. Compare this now to the person with what Finn calls the "average physique" and level of body fat. The most they can lose in a healthy manner is one, perhaps, two, pounds in a week. (I know! It just doesn't seem fair, now does it?)

Now let's go one step further. Let's talk about the person who is already lean and is just trying to perfect their body. This is the point many people find themselves at. This individual will discover their only losing a pound or as little as a half pound a week. (This is where life doesn't seem fair, now does it?)

Why you shouldn't Push the loss!

The numbers cited aren't set in stone. They vary depending on the individual. But they give you a great idea of what, as you lose more weight, what you can expect. Of course, many persons like to push their weight loss to the edge and attempt to accelerate the rate of those last couple of pounds.

But beware! Doing this means you actually run the risk of losing muscle right along with the fat. So think twice -- even three times -- before you decide to take this risky move!

The problem is that far too few people talk about this phenomenon. When you experience, your first thought is to blame yourself. It's as if it's the dirty little secret of a weight loss industry.

Now, one last bright note about this fact. As long as you're doing everything else right -- that means a good diet and a smart training program -- it means you're retaining more of the muscle you've already built. And you know, you've come too far now to lose it!

So in a way, congratulations are in order! Keep up the good work of burning the fat and building the muscle. Your body thanks you every day!
