3 Reasons to Avoid Diet Pills and Drugs

By Cliff Baker

The diet pill and drug industry today remains unregulated by the FDA and consequently when you purchase them you really don’t know what you are putting in your body. These pills have not been tested for long term effects and could be mixed together by someone in a mock garage style factory. Many viable alternatives that are healthy and safe are available and should be explored by those looking for weight loss results. The 3 reasons discussed here for avoiding diet pills and drugs are:

  • Results Not Sustainable

  • Products Not Healthy

  • Ingredients Not Safe

Results Not Sustainable

A realistic weight loss program is one that is sustainable in the long term. It includes lifestyle change, sensible eating habits and exercise. Diet pills and drugs are not sustainable because they do not provide the nutrients the body needs. If you take diet pills and drugs eventually you will have to stop and when you do your old eating habits are still going to be with you. You will also have to deal with the effects the diet pills have left on your body. If you have taken the pills for some time you may suffer physical or psychological withdrawals. A much better approach right from the start is to change your lifestyle and develop those habits associated with healthy living and avoid the diet pills and drugs altogether.

Products Not Healthy

Your body is a delicately balanced organism with very specific needs. If you stop giving your body what it needs it will react. It may react with lack of energy, water retention or constipation. Diet pills and drugs are not food and don’t provide the body with any nutritional value. In fact this approach to weight loss deprives the body of the essential nutrients it needs. Diet pills and drugs will only continue to deny the body what it needs and make the body unhealthy. But by providing the body with the nutrients it needs through a balanced and sensible diet you will be promoting the qualities of a successful weight loss program. Changing your lifestyle in small but progressive ways will promote a healthy body and the weight loss results you desire.

Ingredients Not Safe

The body is constantly monitoring a state call homeostasis. It is another word for balance. The body uses the indicators of balance to help regulate the functions of the body. When an imbalance occurs the body reacts until conditions are brought once again into balance. Diet pills and drugs create a tremendous imbalance in the body and are not safe. The pills raise blood pressure, deplete essential nutrients and cause side effects that can be deadly for some people. Every drug that is prescribed or obtained over-the-counter has some kind of side-effect. The side effects might be high blood pressure, water retention, sleeplessness or possible stroke. Why risk your health for very short term and dangerous results by taking diet pills and drugs when you could begin a weight loss program with sustainable, healthy and safe results?

Diet pills and drugs have been around for half a century or more and the devastation they have left in their wake is huge. Many people have educated themselves regarding the dangers and side effects from trying to achieve results with pills and drugs and have decided the risk and long term effects are just not worth it. Weight loss results can be achieved through completely drug free and pill free methods. It would be prudent to investigate and educate yourself on these available methods and consider them healthy and safe alternates.
