Belly Fat

So if you look as if you swallowed a beach ball, maybe you should go to see a doctor – like now. Medications can help or even save your life.

And take a serious look at your diet and exercise habits – all these conditions can be improved by being in good shape and giving a damn about what you eat.

Be careful about rushing out and getting a colonic enema – they can be dangerous if you are sick. An infection in that area can lead to death.

If you live in a tropical climate or frequent street vendors and roach coaches, you may want to take an inexpensive anti-parasite medication like Albendazole every six months to a year to insure you don’t end up with a belly full of bugs. These parasites are common in the developing world countries, so take a dose after you return from vacation.

The reality is these types of infestations are uncommon outside the developing world, so it’s not something you need to worry about too much.

Apart form these scary conditions; if you are fat, you are fat. Some – blessed with the right genetics – don’t carry much fat around the waist. But for many of us, it’s a really battle of the bulge to have a flat stomach.

There are hundreds of programs, but only one will work for you depending on how fast your body stores fat.

If you are very sensitive to carbohydrates, for example, you may need to radically alter your diet and increase your cardio exercise to be able to see you abs.

Forget sit-ups – these will do nothing but make your abs hard. They do not burn fat, however, so the visible difference will be minimal at best.

“The truth is, getting six-pack 'killer' abs has almost nothing to do with training” says Tom Venuto, in Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle. “It has everything to do with low body fat.”

Tom, who has some of the best abs in the world, goes on...

“Some people might argue that I was just blessed with good genetics in the ab department, which may be true,” says Tom. “But based on my experience with others who have less favorable genetics, I still believe that developing the abdominal muscles is easy. The hardest part is getting your body fat low enough for your abs to show.”

If you really want underwear-model abs, you’ll need to make some serious long term changes and be disciplined about your diet and exercise regimes. You’ll very likely have to count every calorie and do 30 to 40 minutes of cardio 4 to 5 times a week for 6 months to a year to lower your body fat enough to see the abs. And this assumes you are already in fairly good shape and not seriously overweight.

Tom’s got the program if you are really serious – check it out here: www.burnthefat.com

Do you need a washboard stomach to be healthy? It’s a personal choice, not an absolute need. As long as your body fat is down around 15% - still too high for some people to show abdominal muscles – you’re fine.

So forget about losing “belly fat” and start worrying about dropping body fat – that’s what’s important.
